How to Ensure the Speed of Unordered Material Sorting

Add Date: 2026/9/11    Views: 11

Unordered material sorting machines are key equipment on automated packaging lines in industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, daily chemicals, and pet food. They are mainly used for the automatic sorting and directional conveying of soft pouch materials such as coffee sticks, probiotic powder packs, cat treat sticks, and facial mask pouches. Correct use, standardized operation, and regular maintenance can not only make the equipment run more stably and efficiently, but also extend its service life and reduce downtime caused by faults. The following introduces in detail the correct use and maintenance methods of unordered material sorting machines from two aspects: usage standards and maintenance key points.

I. Correct Use: Standardized Operation Is the Foundation of Stable Production

Safety checks must be carried out before starting the machine. Check whether the power supply and air supply are normal, whether any components are loose, and whether the protective covers are properly installed. Clean residual materials and debris in the hopper and conveying channels to avoid material jamming and pouch scratching after startup. Confirm that the material specifications match the equipment parameters. It is strictly prohibited to feed hard materials, large pieces, or irregular parts beyond the applicable range to prevent damage to the sorting mechanism.

Feeding should be uniform and appropriate. It is forbidden to pour in a large amount at one time. Excessive material can cause squeezing, jamming, and pouch breakage, affecting the sorting effect. The material in the hopper should be kept at a reasonable height so that the equipment can automatically feed, break up, and sort at a uniform speed. During operation, closely observe whether the material posture, conveying speed, and counting are normal. If material jamming, deviation, or abnormal noise occurs, the machine must be stopped and the power cut off before handling. It is strictly prohibited to reach into the operating area.

Adjust parameters in a timely manner according to different materials. For soft pouches of different thicknesses and lengths, it is necessary to finely adjust the sorting gap, roller speed, and guide baffle position to ensure that materials are neat, oriented consistently, and not scratched or broken. When connecting to a cartoning machine, keep the conveying rhythm synchronized to avoid material blockage or empty feeding. Operators should be trained before taking up their posts and be familiar with the operation panel, emergency stop switch, and basic fault diagnosis.

II. Daily Maintenance: Frequent Cleaning and Inspection Make the Equipment More Durable

After production ends each day, thorough cleaning is required. Clean dust, material debris, and oil stains from the surfaces of the hopper, channels, rollers, and sensors to keep contact surfaces smooth and free of residue. Use a clean cloth to wipe them. It is forbidden to directly wash electrical components such as control boxes, motors, and sensors with water to prevent short circuits and damage.

Carry out inspection and maintenance once a week. Check belt tightness and chain lubrication, and adjust and replenish oil in a timely manner. Check whether all fixing screws and fasteners are loose, with particular attention to sorting wheels, guide components, and support frames. Clean the photoelectric sensor probes to ensure accurate counting without missed counts or misjudgments. Check whether the flexible rubber strips and guard plates are worn. If severely worn, replace them in a timely manner to avoid scratching packaging pouches.

Perform deep maintenance once a month or once a quarter. Add lubricating oil to transmission parts and check the operating status of motors, cylinders, and solenoid valves. Calibrate the sorting posture and counting accuracy, and test whether the emergency stop and safety protection functions are effective. When not in use for a long time, cut off the power and air supply, clean the equipment thoroughly, cover it with a dust cover, and place it in a dry and ventilated environment.

III. Safety and Precautions

During use and maintenance, safety regulations must be observed. Illegal modifications and overload operation are prohibited. If abnormal vibration, odors, or severe material jamming are found, stop the machine immediately and report it for repair. Do not force operation. Establish an equipment use and maintenance log to record operation, cleaning, and repair conditions, and achieve preventive maintenance.

Correct use and scientific maintenance are the key to efficient and stable operation of unordered material sorting machines. Doing every operation, every cleaning, and every inspection well can not only improve packaging capacity and reduce the pouch breakage rate, but also extend equipment life and reduce usage costs, continuously safeguarding automated production for enterprises.
